Objectives:

  • Become a fully integrated and proactive member of the Practice, understanding the objectives of the Practice, and taking an active part in its global development.
  • Diverse role with unique potential to grow in a dynamic business: from working out strategy and pitch presentations to seeing clients and doing research for presentations.
  • Working at a very senior level.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the role of the Associate, the search process and the administration processes.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

Search

  • Attend client briefing meetings and conference calls, collect briefing information from Client, Partner and from other available resources to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client company and search requirements.
  • Be actively involved in the drafting of the Company, Position and Person Specifications as part of the learning process and develop research strategy in conjunction with Partner.
  • Execute research including:
  • Definition of target company list.
  • Database retrievals of relevant prior searches, internal sources, candidate prospects and industry sources.
  • Identification of prospective candidates in target companies not previously identified.
  • Use of external and corporate library resources off- and online databases, etc for gathering data on potential candidates/sources, relevant target companies and general industry information.
  • Execute source and candidate approach calls.
  • Attract, pre-screen and determine qualified candidates on the telephone.
  • Collect as much information as possible from candidates approached over the telephone and ensure collected data is appropriately recorded in Latitude (in-house information resource).
  • Handle follow-up calls to candidates when appropriate.
  • Interview candidates with Partner if appropriate.
  • Compose and edit Progress reports.
  • Attend Progress Review meetings / Conference Calls with client and make appropriate contributions as appropriate.
  • Work closely with team EA to ensure correct job start up and administration for search.
  • Input all contacts and related information with sources or candidates into Latitude.
  • Ensure that at the close of a search all the administration has been properly completed and the information gathered during the search is available to colleagues.
  • May help review general write-ins to office.
  • Respect Latitude and off-limits protocol and policies.

Developing and broadening the knowledge base

A key driver of success in our business is being current with strategic, structural and competitive changes in each of our target core industries. We use this information to inform our discussions with clients, to develop points of view as to the human capital implications of those changes and to identify shifts which indicate either search opportunities or opportunities to approach executives as candidates.

  • A critical element of this role is contributing to the maintenance of our knowledge base, involvement in developing thought pieces, understanding and communicating the implications for business development and identifying candidate types.
  • Supporting the global team and countries with both information and strategy.

 

Assisting with Business Development

  • Associates in various Practices are given increasing responsibility and involvement in our business development activities. This will range from market analysis and target identification, through detailed analysis of companies and their management teams, to pitch presentation and finally to involvement in the pitch itself.
  • Our intention is to ensure that Associates and Engagement Managers are provided with the opportunity to develop their careers with the Company and so equip them with professional business development capabilities.

 

Developing and maintaining candidate relationships

  • A critical element of success for Heidrick & Struggles is our ability to maintain close relationships with key executives from our target industries. Associates and Engagement Managers play an important role in this process and will be given responsibility for developing and maintaining their own networks of relationships.

 

The Person

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Fluent English & Polish (written and verbal).
  • Experience within professional services.
  • Research experience from within executive search is a requirement.
  • Experience of working within an international fast-paced environment.
